IFFDC- MOVING FORWARD WITH STEPS FOR ENHANCING LIVELIHOOD OF TRIBAL COMMUNITY

Presently, IFFDC is nurturing 1820 SHGs with a total membership of 18,632. Out of which, 78 Tribal Self help Groups with a total membership of 978 are operating in five states i.e. Assam, Odisha, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and West Bengal. These SHG are being strengthened through regular Meetings, Exposure Visits, need based Skill Development and Capacity Building Programmers which helps in developing a sense of leadership amongst the members.


To  strengthen livelihood of tribal community, Indian Farm Forestry Development Cooperative Limited (IFFDC) and Tribal Cooperative Marketing Development Federation of India (TRIFED) under the administrative control of Ministry of Tribal Affairs, Govt. of India entered into MoU to improve livelihood of Tribal community by creating sustainable market, new business opportunities, CSR, Skill Development & Market of Non- Timber Forest Products (NTFPs) / Minor Forest Produce (MFPs). Sh. Pravir Kirshna (IAS), Managing Director, TRIFED and Sh. S.P.Singh, Managing Director, IFFDC signed MOU on 18th January, 2020 in TRIFED, New Delhi & discussed further implementation strategy.

The basic objective of the TRIFED is to social and economic development of the Tribal people of the country and also ensure a good price to the products made or collected from the forest by the Tribal people.

 Objective of Memorandum of Understanding (MoU)-

·         To get reasonable prices of products made by Tribal community.

·         To Increase income for their better livelihood.

·         To get information related to fair price markets for the products.

·         To save from the exploitation of the business mediators.

·         To sell their products all over India.
