Uttarakhand Integrated Horticulture Development Project (UKIHDP) supported by Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).
IFFDC is implementing the Uttarakhand Integrated Horticulture Development Project (UKIHP) with the financial support of Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA). The project intends to improve the value chain of fruits and vegetables in the state of Uttarakhand. The project is being implemented through 04 FPO of Nainital and Pithoragarh Districts, which were promoted by IFFDC under the Central Sector Scheme of Govt. of India for promotion of 10,000 FPO.
PROGRESS
- 52 programmes for mobilizing farmers and Generating Awareness on UKIHDP objectives have been organized, in which 1,560 farmers participated. 4 training programmes for farmers on Farm Planning & Management have also been organized
- To develop fruit orchards, 20,600 saplings of Apple and Kiwi have been planted and a T-bar Structure Trellis for stacking has been constructed for the Kiwi plantation covering 06 hectares area in the project villages.
- A Custom hiring center of farm machinery equipped with 16 Power Tillers, 165 Sprayers, 10 Bush Cutters and 16 Power Weeders has been set-up at Himalaya FPO, Haldwani for promotion of mechanization of crop cultivation in the project area. It will be a helpful time saving intervention for the farmers of the area and will also reduce the drudgery afflicting women.
OUTCOMES
- The farmers have started active participation in the project activities.
- Accessibilty to modern farm machinery and equipment in the project area leads to time saving and efficient cultivation.
